Cycle 1 Core Samples Taken in 2008:

The SAFOD Core Viewer available here displays location and data pertaining to core material samples taken in 2008 during the cycle one processing. Aproximately 190 samples were distributed to 18 investigators/groups over the past year by IODP personnel, headed by John Firth. The Gulf Coast Repository (GCR) prepares and distributes approved samples to the requesting investigators.

The EarthScope scientific community conducts multidisciplinary research across the Earth sciences utilizing freely available data from instruments that measure motions of the Earth's surface, record seismic waves, and recover rock samples from depths at which earthquakes originate.
